I guess I wasn't done playing around with filet! I did this springy block from one of my Japanese crochet books.

I recently revisited some filet crochet. There's something so satisfying about crocheting from a design drawn out on graph paper. (There is also a tiny bit of anxiety in hoping that what you've drawn out translates as well in thread as it did on paper!)

I absolutely loved working with that soft merino wool! These handwarmers were made from a pattern that was part of a crochet kit from Churchmouse Yarns and Teas that I was gifted. Usually when I'm given a gift of a really pretty fancy skein of yarn I'm lost as to what to do with it, so it was nice not to have to spend a lot of time deliberating on the perfect project only for the skein to sit in my stash for the next couple of years...

It's been far too long since I've played with yarn and hooks! I just returned from a visit to California with some scrumptious yarns and a hook from Daiso Japan (a Japanese dollar store)!
If you're familiar with US hook sizes, you know there is a C (2.75 mm) hook and a D (3.25 mm) hook... But what of the 3.0 mm hook? (I believe a 00 in steel hooks is a 3.0 mm, but mine is super old and worn, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.) So I was pretty excited (I know, it's the little things) to find a 3.0 mm with a nice comfy handle! I'm not sure if/when or for what I'm going to use it for, but it's nice to have one!
Anyways, stay tuned as I'm going to start playing with some of that yarn soon!
What are you guys playing with?

Hope your weekend is full of good vibes only!
This is a felt banner I made for Christmas. It's a super easy project. I cut out the felt letters from paper patterns that I hand drew (nothing fancy, as I like the "handwritten" look), sewed them on with 3 strands of matching embroidery floss, machine sewed a channel at the top for my dowel (ok, my sister did that part since she was already on the machine), and I made a pom pom and tassel for a little extra decoration!
Have a great weekend!
